We have a number of regular activities which you can get involved in. You can read about these below.
We also do a number of activities or events over the course of a year for which we need volunteers or participants. Information about these can be found on the Volunteers Wanted page.
Bow Foodbank is based at Bow Church. Its principal aim is to alleviate food poverty in Bow. We are part of a coalition of 11 organisations, working via a limited company with charitable objectives, that is responsible for the operation of the Foodbank. We are always looking for volunteers to help keep the Foodbank in operation. If you are interested in volunteering, you can find out more about how you could help on the Bow Foodbank website.
Gardening in the Churchyard
We are in the process of transforming the churchyard into a more attractive, welcoming place for people and wildlife alike. We are planting bulbs and small shrubs, and starting to grow vegetables for Bow Foodbank (see above). We run regular group gardening sessions on the first Saturday of every month from 10am-12.30pm. We are always delighted to welcome new volunteers to these sessions. If you are interested in getting involved, please email us.
We produce a weekly parish newsletter. If you would like to be emailed a regular copy or have information that you think should be featured in it, let us know through Contact Us.
We have a Worship Group that meets regularly to choose hymns and sort out prayer and readings rotas. If you would like to get involved, let us know through the Contact Us page.
Outside our services, we try to open the church for visitors on the first Saturday of each month. We are always looking for volunteers to welcome visitors on these days. If you are interested in helping with this, contact the churchwardens.
All of us enjoy seeing fresh flowers decorating the church, but they are expensive. If you would like to contribute to this aspect of our church life, donations are always welcome. If you would like to make a donation or provide an arrangement yourself, contact the churchwardens.
If you think you might enjoy:
+ some non-strenuous physical exercise
+ a modest amount of mental exercise
+ being part of a team
+ a good social life
then bellringing may be just what you are looking for. We have a peal of bells in our tower and a team of bellringers from the parish who are always happy to welcome anyone who would like to find out more about bellringing. They practice 7.30-9pm each Wednesday.
For more infromation about bellringing, read the attached leaflet. If you would like to learn to ring our bells, call 07854 438 027.
